17: Shadow of the Colossus

It’s not every day when you see a 23/23 creature in a Limited tournament, but apparently today’s the day. You just wish that it wasn’t on the other side of the table, much less attacking you at this very moment.

After enchanting his Colossus of Akros with a Heliod’s Emissary for unknown reasons last turn, Nikos found his tenth land this turn and turned the Colossus monstrous. Ten +1/+1 counters later, Nikos went for the win, tapping down your Black Oak of Odunos in the process. The fact that you’re currently at 1 life may have something to do with this; against an opponent with more creatures, more land, and more power than you, you now need to think about how to survive.

The immediate problem is, of course, the Colossus: an indestructible trampling 23/23 will deal enough damage to knock you into next week. But then again, you also need to figure out what to do with Nikos’s three other attackers; your life total doesn’t leave you with a lot of choice in the matter.

It is the middle of Nikos’s combat phase. Can you survive his attack this turn?
