After scrubbing out of your respective booster draft pods, you and Andreas decided to have one last game before going home. The fact that you’re coming from a Dragons of Tarkir draft and a Khans of Tarkir draft, respectively, hasn’t been lost on you.
You had a great start this game, coming out of the gate with several fast creatures. Andreas soon took control of the table, however, and everything went downhill after he played his Mindscour Dragon. You eventually managed to kill the dragon, but the damage had been done: Between the Dragon, a Shamanic Revelation and a couple of Tormenting Voices, your library is almost out of cards.
That said, Andreas isn’t in a lot better shape. He’s sitting at a mere one life, and has been playing extremely defensively to avoid leaving you with an opening. Last turn, however, he tapped six mana and revealed that the card he manifested with a Cloudform earlier in the game was a Woolly Loxodon: With a flying 6/7 creature, he’s now threatening to end the game on his next turn. He then used the last of his mana to empty his hand, dropping a Hooded Assassin and an Embodiment of Spring on the table.
You then took your turn, and found that the card waiting for you on the top of your library was a Savage Ventmaw. Seeing that Andreas’ lone flyer is now tapped, you gleefully cast the Ventmaw, unmorphed your Kolaghan Stormsinger to give it haste… and then stopped. It turns out that the Longshot Squad on the other side of the table has a +1/+1 counter on it, and as a result, Andreas has a ton of blockers with reach.
Now you start scratching your head. You’re not about to roll over and die to Andreas’ attack… but is there anything else you can do at this point?
It is the middle of your first main phase. Can you win the game this turn?
