Two hours into your local store’s Fate Reforged tournament, you’re in your second match’s endgame. Your opponent, Fitri, is playing a nasty Sultai deck, and she’s been dominating her games with some very good cards.
While you managed to get in some early damage this game, Fitri wiped the table with a Crux of Fate and forced you to rebuild. A few turns ago, she played a Palace Siege and has been using it to bring herself from the brink of death. On top of that your deck has suffered some misfortune as well: Fitri has somehow managed to mill your deck of every remaining nonland card you own.
Last turn, Fitri played the last card in her hand, and it was a rare that you hadn’t seen before: Silumgar, the Drifting Death. That’s bad news for you: an attacking dragon will kill two of your creatures outright. That’s not even considering the fact that you don’t have enough blockers and are likely to die on her next attack.
You untap, draw a plains, play the land, and study the board. Perhaps there’s a way you can salvage this situation. Then again, maybe the win is right there, and it’s just waiting for you to notice it.
It is the middle of your first main phase. Can you win the game this turn?
