As far as opponents go, there are people you’d rather play over Margaret. She berates your card choices, complains constantly about your decks, and beats you on a regular basis. Today is no different; she’s drafted a fine Jeskai deck over your rare-heavy (but unfocused) Mardu.
Right now she’s also backed you into a corner. Last turn she unmorphed her Master of Pearls on the attack, and the ensuing carnage left you at a precarious 2 life. With a copy of Crackling Doom in your hand and a Sultai Scavenger on the field, you figured you still had a chance… until Margaret revealed that her other morph was a second Mystic of the Hidden Way, just because she could.
You untapped, knocked the top of your deck, and got lucky: Butcher of the Horde happens to be your bomb rare. But Margaret’s sitting at 15 life right now and you’re not sure if you have enough damage on the table to win before she does. Maybe you should pack it in right now.
Margaret, however, gets wind of the expression on your face. “I see you’re giving up,” she sneers.
You glare in response to her smug expression. “Nope,” you say, after a bit of thought.
“And why not?” she asks.
“Because I’ve got the win on the table.”
It is the start of your first main phase. Can you win the game this turn?
